Web Resources in Translation Technology

Abstract

The paper considers the potential of Web resources to be used by various language workers in their practice and studies. Web resources help to support and ensure efficiency, accuracy and correctness of the language worker’s results. Main features of the modern multilingual terminological databases, parallel and comparable corpora for terms extraction and translation are under special consideration. Terminological Database EuroTermBank is considered a model for multilingual Web resource, to provide for terminological and lexicographic support for translation of documents in various knowledge domain. Methods of terms extraction from monolingual texts in global English and Russian languages are discussed. Refs 24.
