The grammatical category of person in the Gilaki language: A study of proverbs

Abstract

Объект исследования: категория лица в гилянском языке. Предмет исследования: морфология и семантика личных форм местоимений и глаголов в диалектах гилянского языка. Работа состоит из введения, четырех глав, заключения и приложения. Во введении дается краткая характеристика гилянского языка и истории его изучения, ставятся цель и задачи исследования, описывается языковой материал, послуживший основой исследования. В первой главе «Определение предмета исследования» дается краткая характеристика категории лица в контексте общего языкознания и указываются некоторые особенности семантики употребления личных форм в пословицах и поговорках. Во второй главе «Категория лица в иранских языках» дается краткое описание эволюции категории лица в иранских языках до ее нынешнего состояния в гилянском языке с целью показать связь элементов системы категории лица в современном гилянском языке с общеиранскими корнями. Третья и четвертая глава представляют собой описание функционирования категории лица соответственно в системе личных местоимений и в глагольной системе гилянского языка с привлечением пословиц и поговорок в качестве примеров. В заключении даются основные выводы из проделанной работы. Приложение представляет собой список всех использованных в работе в качестве примеров пословиц и поговорок с переводом на русский язык и пояснениями относительно их значения.

The object of this study is the category of person in the Gīlakī language. The subject of the research is the functioning of the category of person in the dialects of the Gīlakī language. This work consists of introduction, four chapters, conclusion and appendix. The introduction includes a brief description of the Gīlakī language and the history of its study, and describes the purpose and objectives of the study as well as the linguistic material that provided the basis of the study. The first Chapter, "The definition of the subject of the research" provides a brief description of the category of person in the context of general linguistics and identifies some features of the functioning of the category of person in proverbs and sayings. The second Chapter, "the Category of person in Iranian languages," provides a brief description of the evolution of the category of person in the Iranian languages up to its current state in the Gīlakī language in orderto show the relationship of the system ofthe category of person in the modern Gīlakī language with common Iranian roots. The Chapters 3 and 4 examine the morphology and semantics of the Gīlakī personal pronominal and verbal forms respectively; each analyzed form is illustrated with examples from proverbs and sayings. The conclusion sums up the main results of the study. The appendix is a list of all proverbs and sayings used in the study as examples with translation into the Russian language and brief explanations.
