Characteristics of ”holiness” in the Russian language from the perspective of linguistic culture: A case study of Archimandrite Tikhon’s collection “Everyday Saints”

Abstract

В данной диссертации представлена концепт как базовая единица лингвокультуры, дается определение концепта и понятие концептосфера, а также описываются классификация и структура лингвокультурного концепта, затем вводится представления о религии в русской языковой и концептуальной картине мира. Анализ концепта святости в сборнике рассказов Архимандрита Тихона «Несвятые святые» свидетельствует, что образ святости святого является универсальным в русской православной культуре. Необходимо также отметить, что святость есть наиболее конкретное проявление святого и это важное качество святого, в определенном народном понимании важнейшей характеристикой святого, являются его внутренние качества, связанные с любовью к человеку, чистотой души.

This dissertation presents the concept as a basic unit of linguoculture, defines the concept and the conceptosphere, and describes the classification and structure of the linguocultural concept, then introduces the concept of religion in the Russian language and conceptual picture of the world. The analysis of the concept of holiness in the collection of short stories by Archimandrite Tikhon "Unsainted saints" shows that the image of holiness of a saint is universal in Russian Orthodox culture. It should also be noted that holiness is the most concrete manifestation of a saint and it is an important quality of a saint, in a certain popular understanding of the most important characteristic of a saint, are his inner qualities associated with love for man, purity of soul.
