Professional deformation of social work specialists and measures for its prevention

Abstract

Для изучения особенностей проявления профессиональной деформации у специалистов по социальной работе и разработки профилактических рекомендаций было обследовано 104 человека: специалистов по социальной работе, осуществляющих свою деятельность в социальных службах города Санкт-Петербург. Измерялись: сверхвовлеченность в профессию, отчужденность и дистанцированность, негативный эмоциональный отклик, (авторская методика: анкета и «Модель ПД»). Обработка данных: корреляционный анализ. Результаты. Выявлены статистически значимые связи между всеми блоками «Модели ПД». Ядро профессиональной деформации содержит: «позитивные проявления профессионализма»; напряжение душевных и физических сил в борьбе за власть; экономию внутренней энергии; убеждения, что негативные эмоциональные сопереживания с клиентами – неотъемлемая часть работы; ориентацию исключительно на имеющийся опыт. Имеется положительная связь между отсутствием интереса руководства к чувствам сотрудников и наличием в коллективе нервозности, безразличия; положительная связь между наличием у специалиста сверхответственности и поощрением в коллективе фанатизма к труду. Таким образом, «Модель ПД» является обоснованной, инструментарий обладает диагностическими возможностями в выявлении проявлений профессиональной деформации. Гипотеза подтвердилась: целенаправленное гиперболизированное развитие профессионально важных качеств, позволяющих стать результативным профессионалом, несет в себе риски профессиональной деформации.

This study examines the manifestations of professional deformation among social work specialists and proposes preventative recommendations based on the analysis of 104 participants responses, specifically social work specialists operating within the social services sector in the city of St. Petersburg. The research employed the «Model of PD» questionnaire, developed by the author, to measure professional alienation, distance and over-involvement in the profession, and negative emotional response. Correlation analysis was conducted to process the collected data. The results indicate statistically significant relationships across all blocks of the «Model of PD». The core of professional deformation encompasses «positive manifestations of professionalism», the strain of mental and physical exertion in power struggles, preservation of internal energy, the conviction that negative emotional empathy with clients is an inherent aspect of the work, and an exclusive focus on existing experience. The study reveals a positive correlation between management's lack of interest in employee emotions and the presence of nervousness and indifference within the team. Additionally, a positive correlation is observed between the presence of super-responsibility in a specialist and the encouragement of work fanaticism within the team. Consequently, the «Model of PD» demonstrates its validity and diagnostic potential in identifying manifestations of professional deformation. The study confirms the hypothesis that the deliberate exaggeration of the development of professionally important qualities, aimed at becoming an effective professional, carries the risks of professional deformation.
