Lexical and grammatical potential of the word "история" ("history") in modern everyday discourse

Abstract

Настоящее исследование посвящено анализу функционирования слова ИСТОРИЯ в современной повседневной речи. Целью работы является описание лексико-грамматического потенциала этой единицы, широкий характер которого демонстрируется различными ее употреблениями, не зафиксированными в традиционных словарях (например, трудоемкая история, веревочная история; это не моя история ‘о ком-чем-то, кто/что не подходит говорящему по какому-л. признаку’). Пользовательский подкорпус исследования содержит 442 контекста со словом ИСТОРИЯ и составлен на материале трех источников: устный подкорпус Национального корпуса русского языка, корпус русской повседневной речи «Один речевой день» и отдельные записи окружающей речи (из бытовых разговоров, интервью, лекций и пр.). Процент «несловарных» реализаций слова ИСТОРИЯ составляет 56 % от объема пользовательского подкорпуса, и проведенный анализ показал, что большинство из них являются рефлексами трех активно протекающих в речи семантико-грамматических процессов: десемантизация, ресемантизация и идиоматизация. Все подобные употребления, раскрывающие лексико-грамматический потенциал слова ИСТОРИЯ, требуют внимания лексикографов.

This paper is devoted to the analysis of the functioning of the word ISTORIA in modern everyday speech. The aim of the work is to describe the lexical and grammatical potential of the word, the wide nature of which is demonstrated by its various uses that are not described in traditional dictionaries (for example, trudoyomkaya istoria, veryovochnaya istoria; eto ne moya istoria ‘about someone or something that does not fit somebody on some basis’). The user subcorpus of the study contains 442 contexts with the word ISTORIA and is compiled on the basis of three sources: the oral subcorpus of the National Corpus of the Russian Language, the corpus of Russian everyday speech “One Speech Day” and separate records of the surrounding speech (from everyday conversations, interviews, lectures, etc.). The percentage of "non-dictionary" realizations of the word ISTORIA is 56% of the volume of the user subcorpus, and the analysis showed that most of them are reflections of three semantic-grammatical processes actively occurring in speech: desemantization, resemantization and idiomatization. All such uses that reveal the lexical and grammatical potential of the word ISTORIA require the attention of lexicographers.
