Language representation of the author in romantic fantasy of the 21st century: Gender aspect

Abstract

Изучение категории гендера остается одной из наиболее популярных проблем гуманитарного знания. Особенно актуально на сегодняшний день изучение репрезентации гендера в языке писателей, так как феномен гендера позволяет глубже изучить языковую личность автора, его языковую картину мира. Фокус внимания в данной работе сосредоточен на определении гендерной идентичности автора в популярном на сегодняшний день жанре романтического фэнтези. Однако нас интересует не личность, написавшая конкретный текст, а категория имплицитного автора, предсказывающая модус текста и запускающая процесс читательской рецепции. Анализируя романы указанного направления, мы сосредоточились на поиске вербализованных гендерных и психологических маркеров, так как именно данные текстовые и языковые единицы позволяют сконструировать фигуру имплицитного автора.

The study of the category of gender remains one of the most popular problems in the humanities. Especially relevant today is the study of the representation of gender in the language of writers, since the phenomenon of gender allows a deeper study of the linguistic personality of the author, his linguistic picture of the world. The focus of attention in this work is focused on determining the gender identity of the author in the currently popular genre of romantic fantasy. However, we are not interested in the person who wrote the specific text, but in the category of the implicit author, who predicts the mode of the text and starts the process of reader's reception. Analyzing the novels of this direction, we focused on the search for verbalized gender and psychological markers, since it is these textual and linguistic units that make it possible to construct the figure of an implicit author.
