Calculation of fractional Dehn twist coefficients

Abstract

В работе решается задача эффективного вычисления коэффициента дробных скручиваний Дена (КДСД) косы, рассматриваемой как элемент группы кос, и заданной словом в стандартной системе образующих. В качестве решения представлен алгоритм и разработана программа, считающая КДСД данной ей на входе косы. С помощью вычислительного преимущества программы исследовано поведение дробных частей КДСД при случайных блужданиях для выборок размерности $10000$ и сформулированы интересные гипотезы.

In this paper, we solve the problem of efficient calculation of the fractional Dehn twist coefficient (FDTC) of a braid, considered as an element of the braid group, and given by the word in the standard system of generators. For this purpose, we present an algorithm and develop a program that effectively computes the FDTC of the input braid. With the help of the computational advantage of the program, we investigate the behavior of fractional parts of FDTCs during random walks for samples of dimension $10000$ and formulate some interesting hypotheses.
