Milan as a global city: development trends

Abstract

Тема выпускной квалификационной работы: «Милан как глобальный город: тенденции развития» Автор работы студент 4 курса направления «География» кафедры Региональной политики и политической географии Санкт-Петербургского Государственного Университета Осипов Антон Игоревич. В современном мире, в условиях возрастающей урбанизации и глобализации, растёт роль городов, которые стали ключевыми узлами мировой экономической системы. Особое место в данной системе занимают глобальные города, обладающие огромным экономическим, политическим, культурным и инновационным влиянием. Изучение глобальных городов не только с точки зрения обобщенных статистических показателей, но и сточки зрения особенностей их географии, позволит выявить проблемы развития глобальных городов, а также укажет на тенденции их развития. Милан, как самый экономически развитый город Италии, является примером глобального города. Анализ географического распространения объектов, определяющих уровень глобальности, позволит более детально рассмотреть архитектуру Милана как глобального города. Из-за своего небольшого размера и многовекторного развития, он может стать универсальной моделью для дальнейшего изучения глобальных городов. Опираясь на работы таких исследователей, как Дж. Фридман, С. Сассен, П. Тейлор, Н.А. Слука были выявлены основные критерии глобальности. Данный список был расширен и сформирован в следующие группы критериев: экономические и финансовые, политические, инновационные, демографические и социальные, культурные, а также географическая доступность и сетевая связанность с другими глобальными городами различного уровня. Данные группы критериев позволят проанализировать систему связей Милана другими глобальными городами. Также были проанализированы основные рейтинги глобальных городов, что позволит обозначить место Милана в иерархии глобальных городов. Сама работа состоит из трёх глав. Первая глава посвящена теоретической основе исследования. В ней рассматривается само понятие «глобальный город», а также функции и критерии глобальных городов. Проанализированы основные рейтинги глобальных городов. Вторая представляет собой анализ отобранных в первой главе групп критериев для рассмотрения распространения критериев глобальности по территории Милана. Рассмотрено изменение положения Милана в рейтингах глобальных городов, а также его взаимодействие с ними. Третья глава посвящена анализу пространственно-территориального развития критериев глобальности в Милане и влияния на них особенностей национальной системы управления городским пространством. Рассмотрены меры правительства для развития Милана как глобального города, включая стратегию развития города.

In the modern world, in the conditions of increasing urbanization and globalization, the role of cities, which have become key nodes of the world economic system, is growing. A special place in this system is occupied by global cities with huge economic, political, cultural and innovative influence. The study of global cities not only from the point of view of generalized statistical indicators, but also from the point of view of the peculiarities of their geography, will reveal the problems of the development of global cities, as well as indicate the trends of their development. Milan, as the most economically developed city in Italy, is an example of a global city. An analysis of the geographical distribution of objects that determine the level of globality will allow us to consider in more detail the architecture of Milan as a global city. Due to its small size and multi-vector development, it can become a universal model for further study of global cities. Based on the work of researchers such as J. Friedman, S. Sassen, P. Taylor, N.A. Sluka identified the main criteria of globality. This list has been expanded and formed into the following groups of criteria: economic and financial, political, innovative, demographic and social, cultural, as well as geographical accessibility and network connectivity with other global cities of various levels. These groups of criteria will allow you to analyze the system of connections of Milan with other global cities. The main ratings of global cities were also analyzed, which will allow Milan to mark its place in the hierarchy of global cities. The work itself consists of three chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the theoretical basis of the study. It examines the very concept of a "global city", as well as the functions and criteria of global cities. The main ratings of global cities are analyzed. The second is an analysis of the groups of criteria selected in the first chapter to consider the spread of criteria of globality across the territory of Milan. The article considers the change in the position of Milan in the rankings of global cities, as well as its interaction with them. The third chapter is devoted to the analysis of the spatial and territorial development of the criteria of globality in Milan and the impact on them of the features of the national urban space management system. The government's measures for the development of Milan as a global city, including the city's development strategy, are considered.
