The geological control of gas hydrates in the Laptev Sea

Abstract

Газовые гидраты – одна из форм существования природного газа. По оценкам ФГБУ "ВНИИОкеангеология" проведённым в 2021 году осадочный чехол моря Лаптевых обладает огромным ресурсным потенциалом субаквальных газовых гидратов, с чем и связан особый интерес к газогидратной проблематике региона. Целью данной работы являлось определение факторов, контролирующих формирование скоплений газовых гидратов, выявляемых по данным сейсморазведки. Основываясь на выборке из 61 сейсмического разреза, предоставленной ФГБУ "ВНИИОкеангеология", автор выявил и оконтурил крупное скопление газовых гидратов в пределах континентального склона и глубоководных котловин моря Лаптевых по гидратообусловленному отражающему горизонту BSR. В результате анализа данных сейсморазведки и материалов из открытых и фондовых источников были выявлены факторы, контролирующие образование гидратов фильтрационного генезиса в отложениях моря Лаптевых: 1) мощность осадочного чехла, обеспечивающая генерацию газа для гидратообразования; 2) структурно-тектонический контроль, обеспечивающий наличие газопроводящих зон – разломов для поступления газа в ЗСГГ; 3) геодинамический контроль, обусловленный наличием в пределах хребта Гаккеля повышенной тепловой и тектонической активности.

Gas hydrates are one of the forms of existence of natural gas. According to the estimates of the FSBI "VNIIOkeangeologiya" conducted in 2021, the sedimentary cover of the Laptev Sea has a huge resource potential of subaquatic gas hydrates, which is why there is a special interest in the gas hydrate issue of the region. The purpose of this work was to determine the factors controlling the formation of gas hydrate accumulations detected by seismic data. The author, based on 61 seismic sections provided by the FSBI "VNIIOkeangeologiya", identified the hydrate-conditioned reflecting horizon (BSR) and outlined a large area of gas hydrates accumulation within the continental slope and deep-water basins of the Laptev Sea. As a result of the analysis of the seismic data and materials from open and fund sources, there were identified factors controlling the formation of filterogenic gas hydrates in the deposits of the Laptev Sea: 1) the thickness of the sedimentary cover, which ensures gas generation for hydrates formation; 2) structural and tectonic control, which ensures the presence of gas-conducting fault zones for gas supply to the gas hydrates stability zone; 3) geodynamic control, due to the presence of increased thermal and tectonic activity within the Gakkel ridge.
