Pragmatic aspects of translation of absurdist poetry (a case study of the works of L. Carroll, E. Lear, and S. Milligan)

Abstract

Настоящая работа посвящена изучению прагмастилистических аспектов англоязычной поэзии абсурда и проблем перевода текстов данного жанра на русский язык. Материалом исследования послужили англоязычные абсурдистские поэтические тексты Л. Кэрролла, Э. Лира и С. Миллигана, а также варианты их переводов на русский язык. В работе исследуется понятие поэзии абсурда и выявляются принципы художественного перевода абсурдистских поэтических текстов с учетом их прагматических и стилистических особенностей. На основании результатов исследования выделяются наиболее частотные приемы перевода абсурдистских поэтических текстов, а также выводится классификация трансформационных и деформационных операций, которая может быть применима к различным текстам поэзии абсурда.

The work touches upon the problems of pragmatic and stylistic aspects of English poetry of the absurd as well as the problems of translating poetry of this genre into Russian. The material for analysis comprises certain poetic texts by L. Carroll, E. Lear and S. Milligan and some of their Russian translations. The study investigates the concept of poetry of the absurd and the principles of literary translation of absurdist poems in view of their pragmatics and style. The research findings include the most frequent translation methods of poetry of the absurd based on the results of the study and a classification of transformational and deformational operations that can be applied in the process of translating any absurdist poem.
