"The Sanctuary of Demeter" in Myrmekia: a comprehensive analysis

Abstract

Архитектурный комплекс "святилище Деметры" на центральном участке городища Мирмекий, является одним из интереснейших объектов для изучения. Особенности его расположения, датирования материала, и определение назначения данного комплекса очень важны для понимания общей истории и археологии Мирмекия. В данной работе представлено обобщение уже изданных материалов, анализ источников и литературы, комплексный анализ материалов из напластований, а также описание строительных горизонтов, реконструкция археологического объекта, и вероятное назначение комплекса и помещений. Степень научной разработанности темы высока. В имеющихся исследованиях изучены напластования V – IV вв. до н.э. на участке «И» городища Мирмекий представлены на всей площади участка. Для определения назначения комплекса и передатирования материалов было необходимо изучить информацию по схожим объектам на Северном Причерноморье. Результаты данного исследования могут помочь в определении новых трактовок материала и теорий, по назначению комплекса.

The architectural complex "shrine of Demeter" on the central site of the settlement of Myrmekion is one of the most interesting objects to study. The features of its location, the dating of the material, and the determination of the purpose of this complex are very important for understanding the general history and archeology of Myrmekion. This paper presents a generalization of already published materials, an analysis of sources and literature, a comprehensive analysis of materials from strata, as well as a description of construction horizons, reconstruction of an archaeological site, and the probable purpose of the complex and premises. The degree of scientific development of the topic is high. In the available studies, the strata of the V – IV centuries BC have been studied on the site "I" the Myrmekion settlements are represented on the entire area of the site. To determine the purpose of the complex and the storage of materials, it was necessary to study information on similar objects in the Northern Black Sea region. The results of this study can help in determining new interpretations of the material and theories for the purpose of the complex.
