"Lekianoba" invasions in the context of Georgian-Dagestani historical and culltural relations

Abstract

Данная исследовательская работа представляет собой попытку рассмотрения дагестанских набегов на Восточную Грузию в XVII-XIX вв. с историко-культурных позиций с опорой как на исторические, так и неисторические свидетельства эпохи. В исследовании смещается акцент с рассмотрения собственно исторических событий в сторону более комплексного анализа феномена "лекианоба" и его последствий на основании устной песенной и художественной традиции грузинского и дагестанских народов. Наряду с анализом фольклорных и художественных произведений по исследуемому периоду, в работе уделяется внимание разбору важнейших понятий, связанных с эпохой "лекианоба", таких как "шишианоба", этнонимов "леки", "джарец" и др. В исследовании также анализируется сопровождавший набеги процесс "галекеба", выразившийся в добровольном и насильственном переселении грузин в дагестанские земли, а также в принятии ими мусульманства и ассимиляции с дагестанцами. Предполагается, что этот процесс в значительной степени обусловил возникновение особой этнической группы - ингилойцев. Фольклорные источники (главным образом, народные песни и стихи) в данном исследовании позволяют как можно полнее раскрыть восприятие дагестанских набегов простыми людьми, а также выяснить ключевые мотивы набежчиков. Предполагается, что паремиологические свидетельства позволяют судить о том, как сами участники набегов оправдывали свои действия, а дагестанский эпос и вовсе обнаруживает прямые параллели с грузинской художественной литературой, содержащей мотив дружбы грузин и дагестанцев. Художественная литература, содержащая мотив набега, рассматривается в данном случае как историческое свидетельство, и ее изучение способствует более полному рассмотрению последствий дагестанских набегов, их отражению на жизни отдельных людей.

This research work is an attempt to consider the Dagestani raids on Eastern Georgia in the XVII-XIX centuries from a historical and cultural perspective, relying on both historical and non-historical evidence of the era. The study shifts the emphasis from consideration of historical events proper to a more comprehensive analysis of the phenomenon of "lekianoba" and its consequences on the basis of oral song and artistic tradition of the Georgian and Dagestani peoples. Along with the analysis of folklore and artistic works on the period under study, the work pays attention to the analysis of the most important concepts associated with the "lekianoba" era, such as "shishianoba", ethnonyms "Leki", "Dzhareli" and others. The study also analyzes the process of "galekeba" that accompanied the raids, expressed in the voluntary and forced relocation of Georgians to Dagestani lands, as well as their adoption of Islam and assimilation with Dagestanians. It is assumed that this process largely determined the emergence of a separate ethnic group - the Ingiloi. Folklore sources (mainly folk songs and poems) in this study allow us to reveal as fully as possible the perception of the Dagestani raids by ordinary people, as well as clarify the key motifs of the raiders. It is assumed that the paremiological evidence allows us to judge how the participants of the raids justified their actions, while the Dagestani epos reveals direct parallels with Georgian fiction, which contains the motif of friendship between Georgians and Dagestanians. The literature containing the raid motif is considered in this case as historical evidence, and its study contributes to a fuller consideration of the consequences of the Dagestani raids and their reflection on the lives of individuals.
