Relationship between the dynamics of inflation and the dollar exchange rate and their effect on changes in Russia's GDP

Abstract

В данной работе рассматривается взаимосвязь между основными российскими макроэкономическими показателями. Сначала будет рассмотрена зависимость между показателями курса доллара и инфляции в России. Затем будет оценено влияние этих показателей на ВВП России. Оценивание взаимосвязи будет проводиться эконометрическими методами на основе временных рядов по данным показателям. Также в работе будет рассматриваться политика Центрального Банка в контексте перехода от таргетирования валютного курса к таргетированию инфляции. Ответ на вопрос, целесообразен ли был переход в условиях кризиса к свободно плавающему курсу рубля будет дан на основе проведённого в работе анализа.

In this study is examined the relationship between the main Russian macroeconomic indicators. Firstly, will be considered relationship between the dollar and inflation in Russia. Then it will be evaluated the influence of these indicators on the Russia's GDP. Estimation of the relationship will be conducted by econometric methods based on time series data for indicators. Also in the paper will be considered Central Bank policy in the context of the transition from exchange rate targeting to inflation targeting. The answer to the question, whether the transition for freely floating ruble exchange rate was expedient in crisis will be given on the basis of the carried out analysis.
