Art orders of the emperor maximilian I and development of landscape in German art of the first quarter of the 16th century

Abstract

The article deals with art works, ordered by Maximilian I. These pieces of art are studied in connection with evolution of landscape in German art of the Renaissance. The meaning of landscape fragments is analyzed in works of every participating artist (A. Altdorfer, J. Kölderer, Historia-Meister, A. Dürer, W. Traut, H. Springinklee, H. Burgkmair, H. Schäufelein, L. Beck). Stylistic evolution of landscape images is revealed in works of these masters. The research is concluded by discussion of possible graphic sources of the analyzed works.
