The Persian campaign of Peter I in the context of Russian-Turkish relations in the first quarter of the 18th century

Abstract

Представленная работа посвящена конфликту России и Турции на фоне Персидского похода Петра Великого. Рост напряжения в русско-турецких отношениях в правление Петра I впервые наблюдался еще в конце XVII столетия. Затем это напряжение переросло в Прутский поход 1711 года и Персидскую кампанию 1722-1723 гг. Тем не менее, во время Каспийских походов удалось избежать крупного столкновения двух держав. Это противостояние завершилось заключением мира в Стамбуле в 1724 году, согласно которому Россия и Турция присоединили к себе ряд территорий.

The presented paper is dedicated to the conflict between Russia and Turkey in the course of the Persian campaign of Peter the Great. For the first time the growing confrontation in the Russian-Turkish relations during the rule of Peter I was experienced at the end of XVII century. Then this confrontation culminated in the Prut campaign of 1711 and the Persian campaign of 1722-1723. Nevertheless, the latter didn’t result in the biggest argument between two powers. Eventually, in the city of Istanbul in 1724 the Treaty of Piece was signed and according to this agreement Russia and Turkey annexed a number of territories.
