The main contradictions between the USA and their NATO allies during the presidency of Donald Trump

Abstract

Выпускная квалификационная работа представляет собой исследование на тему существующих разногласий в трансатлантических отношениях между союзниками в период президентского срока Дональда Трампа. В соответствии с поставленными задачами были выявлены и систематизированы основные противоречия между США и их партнерами по Североатлантическому альянсу, а также проведен анализ влияния данных противоречий на трансатлантические отношения и НАТО в целом. Актуальность проблемы обусловлена ролью Альянса в обеспечении безопасности в регионе, а также тем, что от дальнейшего развития трансатлантических отношений будут зависеть взаимоотношения между членами НАТО и Российской Федерацией. В ходе работы автором была проведен анализ нормативной основы НАТО, систематизированы основные разногласия между союзниками по вопросам обеспечения безопасности в регионе и в мире, а также по проблеме оборонных расходов Альянса. В результате исследования автор определил несколько сценариев развития отношений между США и их союзниками по НАТО в среднесрочной перспективе, наиболее вероятным из которых является сохранение лидирующей роли США в Альянсе при дальнейшем ослаблении либерально-ценностной основы союза. Выпускная квалификационная работа состоит из введения, трех глав, заключения, списка использованной литературы и источников, приложений.

The thesis is dedicated to the analysis of the existing contradictions in transatlantic relations between NATO allies during the Donald Trump’s presidency. In accordance with the thesis’s objectives, the main contradictions between the USA and its partners in the North Atlantic Alliance were identified and systematized, as well as the analysis of the impact of these contradictions on transatlantic relations and NATO. The relevance of the problem is due to the role of the North Atlantic Alliance in providing security in the region, as well as the fact that the further development of transatlantic relations will influence the relations between NATO members and the Russian Federation. The author has analyzed the normative basis of NATO and systematized the main contradictions between the allies on security issues in the region and in the world, as well as on the issue of defense expenditures. As a result of the study, the author has identified several scenarios for the development of relations between the United States and its NATO allies in the medium term, the most likely of which is maintaining the leading role of the United States in the Alliance with the further weakening of the liberal-value basis of the organization. The thesis consists of the introduction, three chapters, the conclusion, the bibliography and the annex.
