Contemporary policy of the United States aimed at confronting Islamic extremism in the information space

Abstract

В работе исследуется информационная деятельность разных администраций США по борьбе с мировым исламским экстремизмом в период с 2001 года по настоящее время. Исламский экстремизм тесно связан с явлением терроризма, который является одной из опаснейших глобальных проблем современности. В работе определяются основные предпосылки проблемы исламского экстремизма, выявляются группировки, наиболее активно присутствующие в информационном пространстве, и анализируется информационная деятельность на их примере. Определяются информационные методы и каналы продвижения экстремистской идеологии, основные группы риска, выявляются возможные методы противодействия группировкам. На примере администраций Дж. Буша-младшего, Б. Обамы и Д. Трампа изучаются информационные инструменты борьбы с исламизмом. Сравниваются результаты деятельности каждой администрации и на этой основе выбирается оптимальный метод контртеррористического информационного противодействия.

The thesis examines the information activities of various US administrations to combat global Islamic extremism from 2001 to the present. Islamic extremism is closely associated with the phenomenon of terrorism, which is one of the most dangerous global problems of our time. The thesis identifies the main prerequisites of the problem of Islamic extremism, identifies extremist groups that are most actively present in the information space, and analyzes information activities using their example. The work identifies information methods and channels for the promotion of extremist ideology and risk groups, identifies possible methods of countering Islamist groups. Using the example of the administrations of J. Bush, B. Obama and D. Trump, information tools to combat Islamism are being studied. The results of the activity of each administration are compared and on this basis the optimal method of terrorism information countermeasure is chosen.
