The history of the collection and publication of Russian folk tales as part of the activities of the Fairytale Commission

Abstract

Сказочная комиссия, состоящая при отделении Этнографии РГО, в начале ее создания поставила себе целью систематическое издание всего сказочного материала, поступившего и продолжающего поступать в распоряжение РГО. Дальше она считала собирание и разработку сказок важнейшей задачей и накопила значительное количество народных сказок. Магистерская диссертация посвящена изучению истории собирания и публикации русских народных сказок в рамках деятельности Сказочной комиссии. Задачами данного исследования являются освещение истории становления и развития Сказочной комиссии, раскрывание целостной картины и особенности развития русских народных сказок в указанный период на уровне их собирания и публикации. В первой главе рассматривается история появления сказочных сборников XVIII-XIX веков. В второй главе описывается процесс и результат сбора сказок главными собирателями в хронологическом порядке, освещаются их методики и задачи при записывании сказочных материалов. В третьей главе рассматривается деятельность главных общероссийских и губернских издательских центров фольклористики начала ХХ века, характеризуются сборники, опубликованные на основе собранных материалов в рамках Сказочной комиссии, освещается критерии публикации. В заключении даны обобщенные описания о результатах собирательской и издательской работы в рамках деятельности Сказочной комиссии. Собиратели в значительной мере потрудились над тем, чтобы технически облегчить читателю пользование теми сказочными материалами, приводя ряд указателей и словарь. Подчеркиваем то, что в напечатанных русских народных сказках после 1920-х указывается индекс сюжета по системе Антти Аарне, а также даются ссылки на опубликованные варианты сказок по сборникам А. Н. Афанасьева, Н. Е. Ончукова, А. М. Смирнова и др.

At the beginning of its creation, the Fairytale Commission, which is part of the Ethnography department of the Russian Geographical Society, set itself the goal of systematic publication of all the fabulous material received and continues to come at the disposal of the Russian Geographical Society. The master's thesis is devoted to the study of the history of collecting and publishing Russian folk tales within the framework of the Fairytale Commission. The objectives of this study are to illuminate the history of the formation and development of the Fairy Tale Commission, to reveal the holistic picture and features of the development of Russian folk tales in the specified period at the level of their collection and publication. The first chapter examines the history of the appearance of fabulous collections of the 18th-19th centuries. The second chapter describes the process and result of the collection of fairy tales by the main collectors in chronological order, highlights their methods and tasks when writing down fairy materials. The third chapter examines the activities of the main all-Russian and provincial publishing centers of folklore at the beginning of the twentieth century, characterizes collections published on the basis of materials collected within the framework of the Fairytale Commission, highlights the publication criteria. In the conclusion, generalized descriptions of the results of collecting and publishing work in the framework of the activities of the FairyTale Commission are given. The collectors did a great deal to make it technically easier for the reader to use those fabulous materials, citing a number of indexes and a dictionary. We emphasize that in printed Russian fairy tales after the 1920s, the index of the plot according to the Antti Aarne system is indicated, as well as links are given to published versions of folk tales based on the collections of A.N. Afanasyev, N.E. Onchukov, A.M. Smirnov, etc.
