Lexical-syntactic and stylistic means of conveying the heroic worldview in the text of the "Anglo-Saxon Chronicle" and ways of translating them into Russian

Abstract

Работа представляет собой исследование ряда стилистических средств передачи героического мировоззрения в тексте «Англосаксонской хроники», а также переводческих решений и стратегий, применённых для работы над диахроническим межъязыковым переводом летописи. Показано, что древнеанглийская христианская литературная традиция сохранила ряд черт дохристианского мировоззрения, отражённых на разных уровнях организации текста. В «Англосаксонской хронике» набор и объём стилистических средств героизации различается в зависимости от жанра погодной записи. Выявлено, что переводчики ориентируются либо на сохранение архаичности оригинала путём историзации, либо на модернизацию текста путём использования современного языка. Объём работы составляет 64 страницы; работа состоит из введения, двух глав, заключения и списка использованной литературы.

The thesis represents a study of lexical-syntactic and stylistic means of conveying the heroic worldview in the text of the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, as well as a study of solutions and strategies used in the process of diachronic interlingual translation of the chronicle. It is shown that the Old English Christian literary tradition has retained a number of features of the pre-Christian heroic worldview, which are reflected at different levels of text organization. In the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, the set and scope of the concerned stylistic means differ depending on the genre of the annal record. It is shown that the translators tend either to the historisation strategy, while using archaisms, or to the modernisation of the text, while using contemporary language. The thesis counts 64 pages, that is: introduction, two chapters, conclusion, and references.
