Linguistic aspects of political speech translation (a case study of D. Trump's presidential speeches)

Abstract

В современном мире, развитие технологий и их повсеместное внедрение во все сферы жизни оказало влияние также и на форму политической речи. Обращения к нации посредством официальных указов, специальных заявлений более не являются единственным источником изречения мыслей конкретного политика. Интервью в газетах и журналах, онлайн-изданиях, репортажи на телевидении, посты в социальных сетях стали площадками, способными передать послание, при этом не утратив его силы и значимости. Данное явление касается, в частности, первых лиц государств, включая самого президента. Являясь лидером, и, тем самым, исполняя функцию главного представителя определённой нации и страны, человек, являющийся президентом, ответственен за то, чтобы точно и, в то же время, нелаконично донести своё сообщение. Более того, данная ответственность накладывается и на тех, чья задача адаптировать и преподнести это обращение другим странам и народам мира – переводчикам. Людям, занимающимся устным и письменным переводом политических речей необходимо выполнить данную задачу, не исказив само высказывание, но при этом сгладить его тогда, когда это необходимо, во избежание разжигания противостояния любого толка, а также сохранив верность оригинальному высказыванию. Актуальность работы состоит в том, что в ней приведена информация, которая может поспособствовать в работе действующим переводчикам, занятым в политической сфере. Значимость работы также состоит в сборе узконаправленной информации, позволяющей понять особенности и нюансы речи, изучаемого политического лидера. Также, данная работа даёт возможность увидеть неординарные качества речи Трампа и составить образ его личности.

In the modern world, the development of technologies and their widespread introduction into all spheres of life has also influenced the form of political speech. Appeals to the nation by means of official decrees, special statements are no longer the only source of expression of the thoughts of a particular politician. Interviews in newspapers and magazines, online publications, television reports, posts on social networks have become platforms that can convey a message without losing its power and significance. This phenomenon concerns, in particular, top officials of states, including the president himself. As a leader, and thus performing the function of the main representative of a particular nation and country, the person who is the president is responsible for delivering his message accurately and at the same time illegally. Moreover, this responsibility is imposed on those whose task is to adapt and present this appeal to other countries and peoples of the world - translators. People involved in the interpretation and translation of political speeches need to complete this task without distorting the statement itself, but at the same time smoothing it out when necessary, in order to avoid inciting confrontation of any kind, as well as remaining faithful to the original statement. The relevance of the work lies in the fact that it provides information that can contribute to the work of existing translators involved in the political sphere. The significance of the work also lies in the collection of narrowly focused information that allows us to understand the features and nuances of the speech of the studied political leader. Also, this work makes it possible to see the extraordinary qualities of Trump's speech and compose an image of his personality.
