The assessment of heavy metal bioaccumulation by some hydrobionts as a basis for environmental status monitor of a water body: a case study of the lakes in the Smolenks Lakeland national park

Abstract

Биосферный заповедник национальный парк "Смоленское Поозерье" является важным звеном при проведении фонового мониторинга на федеральном уровне, наравне с еще несколькими биосферными резерватами в нашей стране. Проведение мониторинга, а также разработка новых методов и приемов является важнейшей задачей для контроля и оценки качества окружающей среды. Целью исследования является определение закономерностей биоаккумуляции и распространения тяжелых металлов по трофическим сетям, использование ихтиофауны в качестве объекта для оценки качества водной среды. Для достижения цели были поставлены следующие задачи: 1) отбор и подготовка проб, 2) выявление тяжелых металлов в мышечной ткани и печени рыб, 3) анализ полученных данных. Заключение о характере накопления тяжелых металлов в рыбе, 4) определение фоновых значений тяжелых металлов в рыбе озера Букино, 5) определение возможности использования гидробионтов для экологического мониторинга национального парка. Для оценки экологической ситуации огромную роль играет информация о содержании металлов в ихтиофауне. Рыбы являются не только удобным объектом исследования, но и интегральным показателем неблагоприятных показателей среды. В нашем исследовании было выявлено, что почти все содержания тяжелых металлов имеют низкие показатели, не превышающие строгие гигиенические нормативные значения. Превышения по цинку у густеры возможны из-за чувствительности гидробионта к токсичным тяжелым металлам. Также высокие значения по цинку у рыб из разных озер могут быть связаны с их накопительной особенностью. Вероятно, дефицит данного тяжелого металла включает в организме механизмы, кумулирующие необходимый элемент. Полученные значения в печени и мышечной ткани рыб указывают на смешанный путь поступления тяжелых металлов в рыбу: биомагнификацию и биоконцентрирование. В целом, количество тяжелых металлов в тканях гидробионтов достаточно, чтобы использовать данные водные организмы для целей мониторинга (даже в условиях ООПТ).

The Biosphere Reserve National Park "Smolenskoe Poozerie" is an important link in conducting background monitoring at the federal level, along with several other biosphere reserves in our country. Monitoring, as well as the development of new methods and techniques is the most important task for monitoring and assessing the quality of the environment. The aim of the study is to determine the patterns of bioaccumulation and distribution of heavy metals along trophic webs, the use of ichthyofauna as an object for assessing the quality of the aquatic environment. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were set: 1) selection and preparation of samples, 2) detection of heavy metals in muscle tissue and liver of fish, 3) analysis of the data obtained. Conclusion on the nature of the accumulation of heavy metals in fish, 4) determination of the background values ​​of heavy metals in fish from Lake Bukino, 5) determination of the possibility of using aquatic organisms for environmental monitoring of the national park. Information on the content of metals in ichthyofauna plays a huge role in assessing the ecological situation. Fish are not only a convenient object of research, but also an integral indicator of unfavorable environmental indicators. In our study, it was found that almost all the content of heavy metals have low values ​​that do not exceed strict hygienic standard values. Excess in zinc in silver bream is possible due to the sensitivity of the aquatic organism to toxic heavy metals. Also, high values ​​for zinc in fish from different lakes can be associated with their accumulative feature. Probably, the deficiency of this heavy metal includes mechanisms in the body that accumulate the necessary element. The obtained values ​​in the liver and muscle tissue of fish indicate a mixed route of entry of heavy metals into fish: biomagnification and bioconcentration. In general, the amount of heavy metals in the tissues of aquatic organisms is sufficient to use these aquatic organisms for monitoring purposes (even in protected areas).
