Worldview in fantasy literature and its interpretation in the translation: A case study of J.K.Rowling's "Harry Potter" and Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson"

Abstract

Выпускная квалификационная работы выполнена на тему «Картина мира в произведениях жанра фэнтези и ее интерпретация в переводе (на материалах произведений Дж. К. Роулинг и Р. Риордана)». Автор работы – Мозгачева Екатерина Александровна, аспирант 3 курса Санкт-Петербургского государственного университета, филологического факультета, кафедры «Английской филологии и перевода». Работа состоит из введения, трех глав, заключения, списка литературы. Во введении раскрывается актуальность выбранной темы, описываются цели, задачи, научная новизна исследования. В первых двух главах изложены теоретико-методологические основы когнитивной лингвистики, важнейшие подходы к изучению феномена концепта, его моделированию, а также указываются актуальные результаты исследований касательно определения языковой и концептуальной картин мира. Первая и вторая главы включают обзор основополагающих теоретических источников: книг, монографий, статей, авторефератов диссертаций и др. Третья глава посвящена построению моделей ядер традиционных и авторских и концептов MAGIC и МАГИЯ по результатам анализа словарных дефиниций и сплошной выборки. Кроме того, во второй главе представлен переводческий анализ лексем, использованных для воссоздания концепта MAGIC в переводе на русский язык. Наконец, приводятся общие, наиболее значимые признаки авторских и традиционных концептов MAGIC и МАГИЯ, и уникальные признаки для авторских концептов. В заключении обобщается проделанная работа и формулируются выводы по построению моделей ядер концептов MAGIC и МАГИЯ, а также переводческому анализу. Работа содержит 31 страниц машинописного текста, 6 диаграмм, 29 источника литературы.

The title of the work is "The worldview in the fantasy literature and its interpretation in translation (based on the works of J.K. Rowling and R. Riordan)". The author of the work is Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Mozgacheva, 3rd year postgraduate student of St. Petersburg State University, Faculty of Philology, Department of English Philology and Translation. The work consists of an introduction, three chapters, a conclusion, a list of references. The introduction reveals the relevance of the chosen topic, describes the goals, objectives, scientific novelty of the research. The first two chapters outline the theoretical and methodological foundations of cognitive linguistics, the most important approaches to the study of the concept phenomenon, its modelling, and also indicate the current research results regarding the definition of the linguistic and conceptual worldview. The first and second chapters include a review of fundamental theoretical sources: books, monographs, articles, abstracts of dissertations, etc. The third chapter is devoted to the construction of models of the core of traditional and author's and concepts MAGIC and МАГИЯ based on the analysis of dictionary definitions and continuous sampling. In addition, the second chapter presents a translation analysis of the lexemes used to recreate the MAGIC concept in translation into Russian. Finally, the general, most significant features of the author's and traditional concepts MAGIC and МАГИЯ are given, as well as unique features for the author's concepts. In the conclusion, the work is summarized and conclusions are formulated on the construction of models of the cores of the concepts MAGIC and МАГИЯ, as well as translation analysis. The work contains 31 pages of typewritten text, 6 diagrams, 29 literature sources.
