Speech characteristics of characters in Louise May Alcott's novel Little Women (based on English)

Abstract

Данное исследование посвящено составлению речевых портретов главных героинь романа Луизы Мэй Олкотт "Маленькие женщины" — классика американской детской литературы. Роман описывает процесс взросления четырёх сестёр семьи Марч. В работе даётся определение понятию речевая характеристика, рассматриваются основные литературные приёмы для создания речевых характеристик персонажей художественного произведения и описываются принципы анализа речи персонажей с точки зрения лексики, синтаксиса, орфографии, фонетики и других литературных приемов. Для анализа речи и составления речевых портретов главных героинь “Маленьких женщин” был отобан корпус материалов из реплик героинь романа, сестёр Марч — всего 333 примера. Был проделан количественный и качественный анализ лексического материала и составлен речевой портрет для каждого персонажа с учетом особенностей романа, сюжета и места действия.

This study aims to describe speech portraits of the main characters of the novel "Little Women" by Louise May Alcott, a classic of American children's literature. The novel describes the process of growing up of the four sisters of the March family. The work gives a definition of the concept of speech characteristics, considers the main literary methods for creating the speech characteristics of the characters of a novel and describes the principles of analyzing the speech of characters from the point of view of vocabulary, syntax, spelling, phonetics and various literary techniques. To analyze the speech and describe speech portraits of the main characters of “Little Women”, a corpus of materials was selected from all the lines of the characters of the novel, the March sisters — 333 examples in total. A quantitative and qualitative analysis of the lexical material was carried out and a speech portrait was compiled for each character, taking into account the peculiarities of the novel, the plot and the place of action.
