The linguocultural character type of a "doctor" in American film text

Abstract

Предлагаемое диссертационное исследование посвящено основным содержательным особенностям и языковым средствам репрезентации ЛКТ «американский врач» в пространстве американского кинотекста 1990х и 2000х годов. Лингвокультурный типаж в данной работе понимается как концепт особого типа, который является обобщенным узнаваемым образом представителей той или иной культуры. Объектом работы является лингвокультурный типаж «американский врач», предметом – речевые партии врачей, пациентов и родственников врачей и пациентов в медицинском дискурсе. Цель исследования – выявить и описать понятийные и ценностные характеристики лингвокультурного типажа «американский врач» в кинотекстах конца XX - начала XXI веков. Основным методом для достижения поставленной цели является метод лингвокультурного моделирования Новизна исследования состоит в том, что в рамках нашей работы данный лингвокультурный типаж впервые получает системное научное рассмотрение, в том числе с учетом вариативности типажа в зависимости от жанра кинотекста.

The present thesis describes the content of the linguocultural type "American doctor" and the main linguistic means of its representation in the American cinema of the 1990s and 2000s. For purposes of this paper, linguocultural type is understood as a concept capturing a generalized and recognizable image of members of a particular culture. The object of the work is the linguistic and cultural type "American doctor" and the subject is language behavior of doctors, patients and their family members in medical discourse. The purpose of this research is to identify and describe the conceptual and value characteristics of the linguistic and cultural type "American doctor" in cinematic texts produced at the end of 20th –beginning of the21st century. The main method to achieve this goal is linguocultural modeling. The academic novelty of the study is that it is the first time when this linguistic and cultural type receives consistent academic treatment, with account of it variability depending on the film genre.
