History of Cuban higher education. Problems and achievements

Abstract

В работе рассматривается история высшего образования Кубы в XVIII-XX вв., показаны основные этапы его развития, а также проанализирован положительный и отрицательный опыт преобразований в системе высшего образования страны в течение XVIII-XX вв. Работа состоит из введения, трех глав, разделенных на параграфы, заключения, списка использованных источников и литературы, приложения. В первой главе, на примере истории Гаванского университета – первого университета на Кубе, рассмотрены особенности университетского образования в XVIII-XIX вв., в период, когда Куба являлась колонией Испании. Во второй главе показаны изменения, произошедшие в кубинской высшей школе в годы «половинчатой республики». В третьей главе проанализированы реформы в системе высшего образования после революции 1959 года. Определяя основные этапы в развитии высшего образования, автор приходит к выводу, что на разных этапах в истории высшего образования Кубы в разной мере реализовались три модели высшего образования: испанская, американская и советская, отражавшие особенности исторического развития Кубы.

The paper is devoted to the history of higher education in Cuba in the XVIII-XX. The work shows the main stages of the development of higher education and analyzes the positive and negative experience in the higher education system of Cuba during the XVIII-XX. The work consists of the introduction, three chapters divided into paragraphs, the conclusion, the list of the sources used and literature, the application. The first chapter reviews the features of university education of XVIII-XIX, when Cuba was the Spanish colony, by the example of the first Cuban university, Havana University. The second chapter shows the changes that have taken place in Cuban higher education in the first half of XX. The third chapter analyzes the reforms in higher education after the revolution in 1959. During the identification of the main stages in the development of higher education, the author comes to the conclusion that at different stages of the history of Cuban higher education there were realized three models of higher education: Spanish, American and Soviet, reflecting the main features of Cuban historical development.
