The estimation of the seasonal snow accumulation of the Dzhankuat glacier using GPR data

Abstract

Рассмотрены возможности применения метода георадиолокации для оценки сезонного снегонакопления на примере ледника Джанкуат (Приэльбрусье, Кабардино-Балкария) и особенности выполнения полевых работ в условиях высокогорных ледников. Представлен граф обработки данных и дана их интерпретация. Составлена карта мощности сезонного снегонакопления на леднике Джанкуат по данным снегомерных работ за 2018-2019 гг. с использованием георадиолокации.

The possibilities of applying the georadar method for assessing seasonal snow accumulation by the example of the Dzhankuat glacier (Elbrus region, Kabardino-Balkaria) and the peculiarities of field work in high mountain glaciers are considered. A data processing graph is presented and their interpretation is given. A map of the seasonal snow accumulation capacity on the Dzhankuat glacier was compiled according to snow measurement data for 2018-2019 using georadar.
