«The piano and drums»: Nigerian writers about neo-colonialism

Abstract

The article presents the views of Nigerian writers and publicists on the problem of neo-colonialism as a factor of socio-economic, cultural, political and environmental disaster in Nigeria (and Africa) during the second half of 20 — beginning of 21 century. The features coverage of the topic in the context of changing priorities and initial settings of three generations of writers and publicists, whose careers began in the 1950s, 1970s and 1990s. Examines the concept of “synthesis”, “dialogue” “multiculturalism” and “universal civilization”, “self-presentation”, “anti-racism”, which has become to Nigerians the basis of their identity and historical intercultural and inter-civilizational dialogue involving Africa.
