The Altai glaciers as paleoclimate indicators

Abstract

В данной работе анализируются древние оледенения ряда центров оледенения Юго-Восточного Алтая. Автором в результате дешифрирования космических снимков и полевых исследований конечно-моренных комплексов построены реконструкции оледенения хребта Чихачева и хребта Цамбагарав, рассчитаны площади оледенения и депрессии фирновой границы. Полученные результаты соотнесены с существующими схемами оледенений для других центров оледенения. Во всех центрах оледенения выражены морены позднеплейстоценового возраста эпох МИС 4 и МИС 2, а также их стадии. Помимо этого, установлена зависимость формы, площади оледенения, а также количества стадий каждой из временных эпох от геоморфологических характеристик вмещающих ледники долин. Схожие в геоморфологическом отношении долины объединены в группы гляциогенных комплексов, каждой из которых соответствуют определенная форма оледенения и количество стадий временных эпох.

Little is yet known about the Late Pleistocene and Holocene evolution of the glaciers of the arid areas of Altai mountains. The aim of this work is analyzing of South-East Altay ancient glaciers. The author has made two schemes of paleoglaciation for Chikhacheva ridge and Tsambagarav ridge during decryption of satellite images and field researches. In addition, areas of different stages of glaciations and a depression of the firn line were calculated. The received results were correlated to the existing schemes of Altai paleoglaciation for other regions. Stages of moraines of the Late Pleistocene age – MIS 4 and MIS 2 – are expressed in all centers. Also author established that the form and the area of glaciations and quantity of stages depends on geomorphological characteristics of the valleys containing glaciers. Geomorphologically similar valleys were united in groups of glaciogenic complexes with relevant forms of glaciers and a number of MIS 4 and MIS 2 stages.
