The methods of English-Russian translation of lexical voids in the sphere of European Union documents

Abstract

Настоящая выпускная квалификационная работа посвящена исследованию способов перевода английской безэквивалентной лексики документов Европейского союза на русский язык. В работе были проанализированы основные лексические трансформации, применяемые при переводе английских безэквивалентных единиц. Были рассмотрены пять тематических групп лексики документов Европейского союза, включающих названия органов и сообществ ЕС, экологических проектов и программ ЕС, должностных лиц ЕС, правовых концепций ЕС, а также договоров и соглашений ЕС. Особое внимание было уделено установлению причин и закономерностей использования лексических трансформаций при переводе документов, а также определению основных достоинств и недостатков каждого из них.

The research deals with the methods of the English-Russian translation of lexical voids in the sphere of European Union documents. The main transformations that are used for translating the English lexical voids into Russian were chosen for the analysis. The language material consists of five thematic groups which include the names of EU agencies and institutions, EU ecological projects and programmes, EU officials, EU treaties and agreeents and legal concepts of the EU. The focus of the research is to identify the consistency in the way transformations are used in translating the lexical voids of the EU documents as well as to define their main advantages and disadvantages.
