Peculiarities of Exhibiting Artefacts of the Cultural Heritage of Japan in the Museums of St Petersburg

Abstract

Представление в музейном пространстве культуры и искусства Японии является сложной и многоаспектной проблемой. В рамках данной выпускной квалификационной работы была рассмотрена история формирования японских коллекций в таких музеях, как Музей Антропологии и Этнографии им. Петра Великого Российской Академии Наук (Кунсткамера), Государственный Эрмитаж и Государственный Музей Истории Религии. В ходе проведения исследования были выявлены основные методы и принципы экспозиционно-выставочных решений в музеях Санкт-Петербурга, ставящих целью представить религиозно-эстетическое наследие японской культуры. Результатом осуществления анализа стали концептуальные предложения к организации будущих экспозиционно-выставочных проектов. Выпускная квалификационная работа состоит из введения, библиографического анализа, двух глав, заключения, списка литературы и приложения, включающего иллюстрации к работе и глоссарий. Общее количество страниц выпускной квалификационной работы 73, в работе использовалось 50 различных источников.

Display of Japanese culture and art in a museum space is a complex and multifaceted problem. As a part of this Graduation Work the history of some Japanese collections gathering process in museums like Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnograhpy (the Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Hermitage and the State Museum of History of Religion was considered. During the studying process, some crucial methods and principles of museum display and exhibition were analyzed basing on the contemporary state of exhibition practice in some St. Petersburg museums representing Japanese religious and aesthetic heritage. As a result of the research, some conceptual proposals for the organization of future display and exhibition projects were formulated. Graduation Work consists of an introduction, bibliographic analysis, two chapters, conclusion, a list of literature and an appendix, including illustrations for the work and a glossary. The total number of the Graduation Work pages is 73, there are 50 different sources used for the research.
