Vladimir Nabokov's collection ''The Eye'': Motif structure

Abstract

Данная диссертация посвящена изучению мотивной структуры сборника В. Набокова «Соглядатай». Целью работы является исследование особенности соединения основных мотивов и их функционирования в постороении как отдельного текста, так и сборника в целом. В работе использованы метод мотивного анализа и типологический метод. Диссертация состоит из двух глав. В первой главе «Сборник Набокова “Соглядатай” как структурно-смысловое единство» прослеживается движение таких главных мотивов сборника, как мотивы случайности, смерти, беды, границы, двоемирия, одиночества, инобытия и т. д. Они раскрываются на образном, тематическом и сюжетном уровне текста, притом в контексте других произведений Набокова русского периода. Также рассматриваются особенности переплетения мотивов, выявляются межтекстовые связи сборника и раскрываются важные для творчества писателя проблемы – бытия, коммуникации, любви и др. Вторая глава «Мотив зрения в сборнике “Соглядатай”» посвящена конкретному изучению лейтмотива зрения. В этой главе исследуется его смысловое движение и взаимодействие с остальными мотивами с точки зрения его центрального места в мотивной структуре сборника «Соглядатай». В то же время обращается внимание на функционирование мотива зрения в построении художественного мира писателя, в постижении его философско-мировоззренческой позиции.

This dissertation is devoted to the study of the motif structure of V. Nabokov's collection "The Eye". The aim of the work is to study the peculiarities of combining the main motives and their functioning in the construction of a separate text and a collection as a whole. The method of motif analysis and the typological method are used in the work. The dissertation consists of two chapters. In the first chapter "Nabokov's collection "The Eye" as a structural and semantic unity" traces the movement of such main motifs of the collection as motifs of chance, death, misfortune, boundaries, parallel worlds, loneliness, otherness, etc. They are revealed in figurative, thematic and subject level of the text, and in the context of other works by Nabokov of the Russian period. Also, the features of the interweaving of motifs are examined, the intertextual links of the collection are revealed and important problems for the writer's creativity are revealed – being, communication, love, etc. The second chapter "The motif of sight in the collection "The Eye"" is devoted to a concrete study of the leitmotif of sight. This chapter explores its semantic movement and interaction with other motives from the point of view of its central place in the motive structure of the collection "The Eye". At the same time, attention is drawn to the functioning of the motif of sight in the construction of the writer's artistic world, in the comprehension of his philosophical and ideological position.
