Possible worlds in works of Georges Perec

Abstract

Рассмотрение романа «W, или Воспоминание детства» (1975) кажется актуальным не только в связи с уникальностью творчества Жоржа Перека, чьи произведения не похожи друг на друга и малоисследованы, но и по причине продуктивности применения метода возможных миров к анализу данного текста. Научная новизна работы состоит в том, в исследовании предпринимается одна из первых попыток (в российской науке) применить теорию возможных миров к анализу художественного произведения, а также в том, что творчество Жоржа Перека является малоизученным в России. Целью исследования является достижение более глубокого понимания соотношения вымысла и реальности, установление нового ракурса роли экспериментаторства в поэтике Ж. Перека и структурного устройства романа «W, или Воспоминание детства» с помощью теории возможных миров. Для достижения указанной цели были поставлены следующие задачи: 1) рассмотреть фундаментальные исследования в области теории возможных миров как метода литературоведческого анализа; 2) провести анализ историко-биографического контекста Ж. Перека как автора-экспериментатора, яркого представителя УЛИПО; 3) изучить соотношение правды и вымысла в автобиографическом контексте романа Ж. Перека «W, или Воспоминание детства»; 4) выделить возможные миры в романе и их отношения доступности; 5) определить экстенсиональные элементы и модальности возможных миров романа; 6) установить интенсиональные функции: аутентификацию и насыщенность возможных миров романа. Структура работы. Работа состоит из введения, трех глав, заключения, списка источников и литературы и приложения. Первая глава «Теория возможных миров» посвящена описанию возникновения и становления теории возможных миров в логике, философии и литературоведении. Во второй главе «Жорж Перек: жизнь и творчество» рассматриваются основные вехи жизни и творчества автора. Третья глава «Анализ возможных миров в романе Ж. Перека «W, или Воспоминание детства» посвящена детальному анализу романа с применением теории возможных миров. Основные выводы. Теория возможных миров предлагает достаточно полезный инструментарий для исследования художественных текстов. В данном случае теория возможных миров позволяет понять глубинный смысл романа Жоржа Перека «W, или Воспоминание детства»: поиски автором своих детских воспоминаний, зависимость личных воспоминаний от исторических и социальных условий, роль фашизма, ненадежность воспоминаний о самом себе, проблема собственной идентичности. Этот метод дает увидеть сложную динамическую структуру возможных миров в романе Перека, с помощью которой выражаются все вышеперечисленные и многие другие явления в романе.

Consideration of the novel "W, ou le souvenir d'enfacne" (1975) seems relevant not only because of the uniqueness of the work of Georges Perec, whose works are not similar and not studied enough, but also because of the productivity of the method of possible worlds in regard to analysis of this text. The scientific novelty of the study is that the research endeavors one of the first attempts (in Russian science) to apply the theory of possible worlds to the analysis of a work of art, and also that the work of Georges Perec is poorly studied in Russia. The aim of the research is to achieve a deeper understanding of the relationship between fiction and reality, the establishment of a new perspective of the role of experimentation in G. Perec's poetics and the structure of the novel "W, ou le souvenir d'enfacne", using the theory of possible worlds. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were set: 1) to consider fundamental research in the theory of possible worlds as a method of literary analysis; 2) to carry out an analysis of the historical and biographical context of G. Perec as an author-experimenter, a brilliant representative of OULIPO; 3) to study the correlation of truth and fiction in the autobiographical context of G. Perec's novel "W, ou le souvenir d'enfacne"; 4) to identify possible worlds in the novel and their accessibility relationships; 5) to define the extensional elements and modalities of possible worlds of the novel; 6) to reveal intensional functions: authentication and saturation of possible worlds of the novel. Structure of the work. The work consists of an introduction, three chapters, a conclusion, a list of sources and literature, and an appendix. The first chapter "The Theory of Possible Worlds" is devoted to the description of the emergence and formation of the theory of possible worlds in logic, philosophy and literary criticism. In the second chapter "Georges Perec: Life and Works" the main landmarks of the author's life and works are examined. The third chapter "Analysis of {ossible Worlds in G. Perec's novel "W, ou le souvenir d'enfacne" is devoted to a detailed analysis of the novel with a help of the possible worlds theory. Main conclusions. The theory of possible worlds offers a fairly useful tool for the study of literary texts. In this case the method of possible worlds allows us to understand the deep meaning of the Georges Perec's novel "W, ou le souvenir d'enfacne": the search of childhood memories of the author, dependence of personal memories on the historical and social conditions, the role of fascism, unreliable memories of himself, the problem of personal identity. This method shows the complex dynamic structure of possible worlds in Perec's novel, with the help of which all of the above and many other phenomena in the novel are expressed.
