The activity of non-governmental organizations in the Arctic

Abstract

Магистерская диссертация посвящена деятельности неправительственных организаций в Арктике и их роли в формировании политики региона. Арктический регион в настоящее время становится действительно значимым, в нем расположены огромные запасы ресурсов, на которые претендуют арктические государства. В этой связи активизируется и деятельность неправительственных организаций, которые стараются решить не только экологические проблемы региона, но и изъявляют желание принимать участие в нормотворческом процессе. В данной исследовательской работе изучаются понятия «регион», «арктический регион» и его место в системе международных отношений, затрагиваются вопросы правового положения и функционирования неправительственных организаций, рассматриваются конкретные примеры деятельности организаций и их влияние на политику, проводимую в Арктике.

The master thesis is devoted to the activities of non-governmental organizations in the Arctic and their role in shaping the policy of the region. The Arctic region is now becoming truly significant; it has huge reserves of resources, which are claimed by the Arctic states. In this regard, the activities of non-governmental organizations are intensifying, they try to solve not only the environmental problems of the region, but also express their desire to participate in the norm-setting process. In this research paper we scrutinize the concept of "region" and "Arctic region" and its place in the system of international relations, questions of the legal status and functioning of non-governmental organizations are touched upon, specific examples of the activities of organizations and their influence on the policy pursued in the Arctic are examined.
