STUDIES ON THE INHERITANCE OF PROPERTIES OF HIGHER NERVOUS ACTIVITY IN INTERSPECIFIC AND INTERBREED RECIPROCAL CROSSES

Abstract

The inheritance of the properties of nervous processes (the strength of the excitatory and inhibitory process, their balance and lability) has been investigated in interspecific (closely related species of sturgeon., i. e. Actpenser güldenstädly Br. and A. nudiventris Low.) and in interbreed (breeds of chicken White Plymouthrock and Australorp) reciprocal crosses. In Fi of interspecific reciprocal hybrids and interbreed hybrids the strength of excitatory process is inherited after the maternal type. It was shown that inheritance of strength of inhibitory process is intermediate in its character. This is the evidence of different genetic determination of the excitatory and inhibitory processes. The special study of the rate of formation and dynamics of alimentary and defensive conditioned reflexes at different period of ontogenesis shows that their expression is determined by maternal type inheritance of the properties of excitatory process determined by the specific properties of unconditional reflexes.
