MANIFESTATION OF HETEROSIS IN TOMATOES UNDER DIFFERENT CONDITIONS OF CULTIVATION

Abstract

The object of this study were the specific forms of manifestation of heterosis in the Fi of the different crosses between tomato varieties under different conditions of cultivation. It is shown by the results obtained that the manifestation of heterosis is discrete and is dependent on the conditions of development of the characters involved. Under the conditions favourable for the development of precocity (early decapitation) the hybrids exhibited heterosis wit h respect to precocity. Heterosis with respect to the yield of fruits is possible in case if the elements of high yield (number of fruits per plant and the weight of fruits) be combined in the hybrid.
