Restoration of a painting fragment on the door leaf in the Green Living Room of the Nabokov museum

Abstract

На реставрации находится верхняя часть дверного полотна из Зеленой гостиной музея В.В. Набокова. Дверное полотно было создано и расписано зеленой краской в начале 20 века, но затем оригинальный слой был перекрыт несколькими слоями поздних белых масляных закрасок. Работа включает описание процесса удаления поздних белых закрасок и процесс раскрытия оригинального авторского слоя. Удаление закрасок производилось механически скальпелем. В процессе этого этапа работы было раскрыто большое количество утрат оригинального слоя. Были проведены консервационные мероприятия авторского слоя, а именно укрепление, которое производилось с помощью рыбьего клея. Все детали реставрационного процесса полно изложены в этой работе.

There is an upper half part of a door leaf from the V.V. Nabokov`s museum in restoration process. This door was created and painted with green paint in the beginning of 20th century, but then the original layer of painting was covered with several layers of late white oil paintings. Work includes description of the removal process of these late white paintings and consolidation process of the original author`s painting layer. Removal of paint is being performed mechanically with a scalpel. During this part of work there were revealed a great amount of losses of the original layer. There were performed some conservation treatments of the author`s layer which means consolidation performed with fish glue. All details of this restoration process are fully described in this work.
