The aboriginal population of South America through the eyes of the Spanish and German conquistadors. A comparative study

Работа представляет собой сопоставительный анализ восприятия индейцев Южной Америки испанскими и немецкими конкистадорами в период с 1492 по 1556 годы. В исследовании рассматриваются свидетельства непосредственных участников событий. Актуальность работы обусловлена тем, что в последнее время, в эпоху глобализации, возрос интерес к проблемам, связанным с насаждением ценностей одной культуры другой, что во многом повторяет ситуацию с завоеванием и колонизацией Южной Америки. Целью данной работы является выявление особенностей восприятия немецкими и испанскими конкистадорами аборигенного населения Южной Америки, отраженных в хрониках завоевателей в период с 1530 по 1555 годы. Проанализированные хроники позволили выявить ряд сходств и различий в испанских и немецких описаниях аборигенного населения.

The paper presents a comparative analysis of how the Indians of South America were perceived by the Spanish and German conquistadors within the period from 1492 to 1556. The research deals with the evidence of the people actually involved in those events. The current significance of the paper is determined by the fact that in recent years, in the era of globalization, there has been a growing interest in the issues related to the implantation of values of one culture into another, which to a large extent repeats the situation resulted from conquering and colonization of South America. The aim of the present paper is to identify the distinctive features of perception of the South American aboriginal population by the German and Spanish conquistadors as reflected in the conquerors’ chronicles from 1530 to 1555. The analysis of the chronicles made it possible to reveal a number of similarities and diversities in the Spanish and German descriptions of the aboriginal population.
