The history of St.Petersburg museums in the 18th – early 20th centuries: The prerequisites for establishment, the purposes of creation

Abstract

В диссертации проведён анализ отечественных историографических работ по музееведению, обзор литературы по истории музеев Петербурга (1714-1917 гг.). Рассмотрена вся совокупность музеев XVIII – начала XX вв. в хронологической динамике, используя методы научного исследования – историзма, анализа и синтеза, сравнения, т.е. не просто отражая те или иные факты в истории музеев, а, прослеживая их в развитии, анализируя предпосылки появления, цели их создания, связи с важнейшими историческими событиями того времени, государственной политикой в этой области, образованием и культурой Петербурга. Автором выявлены тенденции и закономерности музейного строительства в рассматриваемый период, показана общая схема создания музеев, предложена концепция современного Сельскохозяйственного музея, потребность в котором сегодня назрела в связи с проблемой импортозамещения. Помимо обзора и анализа историографии и опубликованных источников, введён в научный оборот ряд материалов из фондов Российского государственного исторического архива (РГИА). Сформулированы рекомендации по практическому применению предложенной в работе схемы периодизации истории музейного дела.

In the dissertation the analysis of domestic historiographic works on museology, a review of the literature on the history of museums of Petersburg (1714-1917) is carried out. The whole collection of museums of the XVIII - early XX centuries is considered. In chronological dynamics, using the methods of scientific research - historicism, analysis and synthesis, comparison, ie, Not simply reflecting some or other facts in the history of museums, but by tracing them in development, analyzing the prerequisites for the appearance, the purpose of their creation, connection with the most important historical events of that time, state policy in this field, education and culture of St. Petersburg. The author reveals the tendencies and patterns of museum construction in the period under review, shows the general scheme for creating museums, proposed the concept of a modern Agricultural Museum, the need for which is overdue today in connection with the problem of import substitution. In addition to reviewing and analyzing historiography and published sources, a number of materials from the collections of the Russian State Historical Archive (RGIA) have been put into scientific circulation. Recommendations are formulated on the practical application of the scheme proposed for the periodization of the history of the museum business.
