Visual design project for a feature film based on Tatyana Tolstaya's novel The Slynx

Abstract

Моя дипломная работа представляет собой визуальное решение фильма по роману Татьяны Толстой “Кысь”. В дипломной работе показан постапокали́птический мир где действие происходит после «взрыва» на месте бывшей Москвы. Краткий сюжет: главный герой Бенедикт живет в нищете и тотальной бедности. Чтобы выбраться из бедноты он женится на дочери главного санитара. Живя сыто дома у зятя Бенедикт находит книги и начинает читать одну за другой не понимая сути и смыслов напечатанных текстов. Санитар подначивает Бенедикта свергнуть правителя города говоря о том, что оба получат выгоду: зять- власть, Бенедикт- огромную библиотеку с тоннами книг. Дорвавшийся до власти главный Санитар, а теперь уже правитель города, решает сжечь истопника города и единственного образованного человека Никиту Иваныча. В итоге план рушится и сгорает вся деревня.

Антиутопия о падении культуры, о деградации общества: моральной, интеллектуальной. Главная проблема заключается в поисках утраченной духовности и внутренней гармонии.

My graduate work is a visual solution to the film based on the novel by Tatyana Tolstoy “Kys". The graduate work shows a post-apocalyptic world where the action takes place after the "explosion" on the place of the former Moscow. Short story: the main character Benedict lived in misery and total poverty. To get out of poverty, he got married the daughter of the chief orderly. Benedict lived well at his son-in-law's house, he found books and began to read one after another without understanding the essence and meanings of the printed texts. The orderly encouraged Benedict to overthrow the ruler of the city, said that both would benefit: the son-in-law- the power, Benedict - a huge library with tons of books. The chief Orderly, and after the ruler of the city, who had gotten to power, decided to burn the stoker of the city and the only educated person Nikita Ivanovich. As a result, the plan collapsed and the whole village burned down.

A dystopia is about the decline of culture, about the degradation of society: moral, intellectual. The main problem is the search for lost spirituality and inner harmony.
