Diplomatic relations between the United States and China in 1980-2022

Abstract

Начиная с рождения Китайской Народной Республики в 1949 году, отношения между Соединенными Штатами и Китаем были холодными и напряжёнными. В течение трёх десятилетий США отказывались признавать коммунистов (КНР) и вместо этого поддерживали Китайскую националистическую республику в изгнании, базирующуюся на Тайване. Первые шаги к налаживанию двусторонних отношений произошли во время визита президента Никсона в 1972 году. С этого момента и до начала 1980 года происходило постепенное налаживание отношений. В данном исследовании рассматриваются взаимоотношения с 80-х годов. Это обусловлено рядом причин: 1) 1979 год ознаменован установлением дипломатических отношений между КНР и США; 2) в 1979 году произошло признание КНР, как единственным законным правительством; 3) с 1980 года – период «настоящей дружбы», когда оба государства имели общие национальные интересы; 4) ХХ век охарактеризован «притворной дружбой» и нарастанием конфликтности в нескольких сферах (торговля и технологии). Цель работы: определить роль и значение американо-китайских отношений в контексте дипломатии в XXI в. Задачи: 1. Рассмотреть ретроспективу становления дипломатических отношений США и КНР; 2. Проанализировать заинтересованность в установлении дипломатических отношений; 3. Выделить основные направления в сотрудничестве; 4. Определить круг проблем, факторов, влияющих на развитие дипломатических отношений; 5. Рассмотреть нынешнее взаимодействие КНР и США под влиянием потенциальных проблем. 6. Проанализировать основные документы КНР и США по дипломатическим отношениям.

Since the birth of the People's Republic of China in 1949, relations between the United States and China have been cold and tense. For three decades, the U.S. refused to recognize the Communists and instead supported the Chinese Nationalist Republic-in-Exile based in Taiwan. The first steps towards establishing bilateral relations occurred during the visit of President Nixon in 1972. From that moment until the beginning of 1980, there was a gradual improvement in relations. This study examines the relationship since the 80s. This is due to a number of reasons: 1) 1979 was marked by the establishment of diplomatic relations between the PRC and the United States; 2) in 1979, the PRC was recognized as the only legitimate government; 3) since 1980 - the period of "true friendship", when both states had common national interests; 4) The twentieth century is characterized by "feigned friendship" and an increase in conflict in several areas (trade and technology). The purpose of the work is to determine the role and significance of US-Chinese relations in the context of diplomacy in the XXI century. Tasks: 1. Consider a retrospective of the formation of diplomatic relations between the United States and China; 2. Analyze the interest in establishing diplomatic relations; 3. Highlight the main areas of cooperation; 4. To determine the range of problems, factors affecting the development of diplomatic relations; 5. Consider the current interaction between China and the United States under the influence of potential problems. 6. Analyze the main documents of the PRC and the United States on diplomatic relations.
