Specificity of the translation of political speeches: A case study French politicians speeches

Abstract

Sujet: Les spécificités de la traduction de discours politiaues (discours de politiciens français). La pertinence de cette étude est déterminée par les facteurs suivants:l'insuffisance des recherches sur l'important phénomène social et politique qu'est le discours politique sous l’angle traductologique; la nécessité d'accumuler des données sur les moyens, les techniques et les méthodes permettant d'influencer le public et la conscience publique dans son ensemble; le discours politique, qui représente un type particulier de communication, est caractérisé par un degré élevé de manipulation. Il est donc important d'explorer les stratégies, les tactiques et les modes optimaux d'influence de la parole et comment les rendre lors de la traduction. La nouveauté scientifique de cette étude réside dans le fait qu'une grande attention est accordée à l'étude du discours politique. Les méthodes de recherche sont complètes et comprennent des analyses contextuelles, comparatives et linguistiques. Cette étude se compose de deux chapitres. Dans le premier chapitre, nous définissons le discours politique, nous examinons les caractéristiques linguistiques et stylistiques du discours politique. Nous étudions les stratégies et les tactiques utilisées dans le discours politique. De plus, le premier chapitre présente les transformations de traduction que le traducteur doit utiliser lors de la transposition en russe. Le deuxième chapitre vise à analyser les discours politiques. Nous avons analysé le discours radiophonique de Charles De Gaulle du 18 juin 1940. Et nous avons analysé le discours d'investiture d'Emmanuel Macron pour 2017. Nous avons procédé à une analyse comparative des deux discours. La conclusion présente un résumé des résultats de l'étude.

Subject: Specificity of the translation of political speeches: A case study French politicians speeches. The relevance of this study is determined by the following factors: insufficient research of an important social and political phenomenon, which is political discourse, from a translational point of view; the need to accumulate information about the ways, techniques, and methods of influencing the public and the general public's consciousness; the political discourse, which is a special type of communication, is characterized by a high degree of manipulation. That is why it is important to learn strategies, tactics, and the best ways to influence speech and how to use them in translation. The scientific novelty of this research is that much attention is paid to the study of political discourse. The research methods are comprehensive and include contextual, comparative, and linguistic analysis. This research consists of two chapters. In the first chapter, we define political discourse and examine the linguistic and stylistic features of political discourse. We examine the strategies and tactics used in political discourse. In addition, the first chapter presents the translation transformations that the translator must use when translating into Russian. The second chapter is devoted to the analysis of political discourses. We analyzed Charles de Gaulle's radio address of June 18, 1940. And we analyzed Emmanuel Macron's inaugural speech for 2017. We did a comparative analysis of the two speeches. In the conclusion a summary of the results of the research is presented.
