Evolution of the political role of ethnic minorities in the USA from the 1960s to the present

Abstract

В данной работе с точки зрения организационного подхода рассматривается роль этнических меньшинств США в развитии политического процесса с 1960-х годов до настоящего времени. На основании анализа социально-экономического развития меньшинств, политической деятельности этнических организаций и изменений национальной политики США выявляются тенденции развития политической роли афроамериканцев, американцев мексиканского происхождения, коренных народов США и Гавайев и американцев азиатского происхождения. Рассматриваются поэтапное изменение политических требований, выдвигаемых меньшинствами, и изменения их репрезентативности в государственных органах. Обращение к теме обусловлено актуализацией вопросов расизма и соблюдения прав меньшинств, процессами вхождения представителей этнических организаций в политическую элиту и официальным признанием со стороны правительства США антирасистского дискурса, возникшего в рамках критической расовой теории и продвигаемого активистами из среды этнических меньшинств.

In this paper, from the point of view of the organizational approach, the role of ethnic minorities of the United States in the development of the political process from the 1960s to the present is considered. Based on the analysis of the socio-economic development of minorities, the political activities of ethnic organizations and changes in the national policy of the United States, trends in the development of the political role of African Americans, Mexican Americans, indigenous peoples of the United States and Hawaii, and Asian Americans are revealed. A gradual change in the political demands put forward by minorities and changes in their representativeness in State bodies are considered. The appeal to the topic is due to the actualization of issues of racism and respect for minority rights, the processes of entry of representatives of ethnic organizations into the political elite and the official recognition by the US government of the anti-racist discourse that arose within the framework of critical racial theory and promoted by activists from among ethnic minorities.
