Comprehension of Collective Trauma and Search for the National Identity in the Contemporary Art of the Caucasus in the 2nd Decade of the XXI Century

Abstract

Данная выпускная квалификационная работа посвящена осмыслению коллективной травмы и поиску национальной идентичности в современном искусстве Кавказа во втором десятилетии XXI века. Цель исследования заключается в анализе творческих подходов и художественных выражений художников, которые в своих работах репрезентируют и перерабатывают травматические события истории Кавказа. В работе проводится сравнительный анализ двух проектов, связанных с поиском национальной идентичности и осмыслением коллективной травмы: Биеннале трудного наследия и Международная биеннале современного искусства Кавказа. Исследование основывается на анализе конкретных произведений и творческого подхода художников, а также на теоретической базе, включающей работы в области искусствоведения, культурологии и социологии. Теоретическая база исследования основана на трудах Александра Эткинда, Мадины Тлостановой, Эдварда Саида, Амирана Урушадзе, Алейды Ассман. Методы исследования включает анализ художественных произведений, критический обзор литературы по теме исследования, сравнительный анализ художественных проектов. Основные задачи исследования включают обзор литературы и существующих исследований, посвященных коллективной травме и поиску идентичности и анализ основных тематических и художественных подходов, используемых художниками. Данная выпускная квалификационная работа позволит глубже проникнуть в процессы осмысления коллективной травмы и поиска национальной идентичности в современном искусстве Кавказа во втором десятилетии XXI века. Полученные результаты и выводы могут быть использованы в практике искусства и в дальнейших научных исследованиях, способствуя развитию и продвижению культурного наследия Кавказа.

This final qualifying work is devoted to the understanding of collective trauma and the search for national identity in the contemporary art of the Caucasus in the second decade of the XXI century.The purpose of the study is to analyze the creative approaches and artistic expressions of artists who represent and process traumatic events in the history of the Caucasus in their works. The paper provides a comparative analysis of two projects related to the search for national identity and understanding of collective trauma: the Biennale of Difficult Heritage and the International Biennale of Contemporary Art of the Caucasus.The study is based on an analysis of specific works and the creative approach of artists, as well as on a theoretical basis, including works in the field of art history, cultural studies and sociology. The theoretical base of the study is based on the works of Alexander Etkind, Madina Tlostanova, Edward Said, Amiran Urushadze, Aleida Assman. Research methods include the analysis of works of art, a critical review of the literature on the research topic, a comparative analysis of art projects. The main objectives of the study include a review of the literature and existing research on collective trauma and the search for identity, and an analysis of the main thematic and artistic approaches used by artists. This final qualifying work will allow deeper insight into the processes of understanding collective trauma and the search for national identity in the contemporary art of the Caucasus in the second decade of the 21st century. The results and conclusions obtained can be used in the practice of art and in further scientific research, contributing to the development and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Caucasus.
