The coverage of the events in Gwangju in May 1980 by North Korean and South Korean print media

Abstract

Данная работа посвящена рассмотрению событий народного движения в южнокорейском городе Кванчжу с 18 по 27 мая 1980 г. в печатной прессе РК и КНДР на примере газет "Тона ильбо" и "Нодон синмун". В ходе анализа материалов представленных газет по событиям восстания в Кванчжу были выявлены отличительные черты излагаемого. Рассмотрение печатных источников информации по данной теме считается актуальным для обогащения историографической базы Южной Кореи.

This paper examines the events of the people's movement in the South Korean city of Gwangju from May 18 to 27, 1980 in the press of the Republic of Korea and North Korea through the newspapers "Tona Ilbo" and "Nodong Sinmun". The analysis of the newspapers on the events of the Gwangju uprising revealed the distinctive features of what is being reported. Consideration of printed sources on this topic is considered relevant to enrich the historiographical base of South Korea.
