Economic and geographical typology of the Russian Federation regions based on the population's standard of living and their economic specialisation

Abstract

Целью предлагаемого исследования являлось составление типологии регионов Российской Федерации на основе анализа показателей уровня жизни населения и их экономической специализации. По результатам работы была разработана авторская методика оценки уровня жизни в субъектах РФ, с применением кластерного анализа были выявлены наиболее сильные и слабые стороны развития данной характеристики регионов в разрезе отдельных ее компонентов. Результатом проведенной работы является типология регионов России относительно их экономической специализации и уровня жизни в 2010 и 2020 гг. Представленная типология может являться инструментом выбора дальнейшего курса в разработке социально-экономических политик регионального развития в различных субъектах нашей страны.

The purpose of the proposed study is to compile a typology of the regions of the Russian Federation based on an analysis of indicators of the standard of living of the population and their economic specialization. Based on the results of the work, an author's methodology for assessing the standard of living in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation was developed, using cluster analysis, the strongest and weakest aspects of the development of this characteristic of regions in the context of its individual components were identified. The result of this work is a typology of Russian regions in relation to their economic specialization and standard of living in 2010 and 2020. The presented typology can be a tool for choosing a further course in the development of socio-economic policies for regional development in various regions of our country.
