Denmark's Arctic strategy at the beginning of the 21st century

Abstract

Арктика - часть глобальной деревни, соединяющей крупные экономики воздушными и морскими путями, газопроводами и электросетями. Потепление температур и быстро растущие темпы таяния ледников могут раскрыть экономический потенциал Арктики в ближайшие десятилетия. Арктическим государствам в начале XXI века приходится не только заявлять о своих интересах в Арктике, но и активизировать работу в регионе. Одним из таких государств является Королевство Дания. Особый интерес к деятельности Королевства в Арктическом регионе наблюдается по причине того, что данное государство включает в себя три автономные части - Дания в Северной Европе, Фарерские острова в Северной Атлантике, острова Гренландия в Северной Америке, где каждая из которых имеет собственные интересы в Арктике, но при этом автономии обладают едиными законами и общей национальной арктической стратегией. Королевство уже является активным и важным участником стратегически важного международного сотрудничества по вопросам будущего Арктики и в этой связи придает большое значение созданию прозрачности и взаимопониманию в сотрудничестве. В работе уделено внимание военно-политической, экономической ситуации в арктических территориях Королевства Дания в XXI веке. Такая направленность редко встречалась у российских исследователей, что подтверждает актуальность данного исследования. Структура исследования включает введение, три главы разделенные на параграфы и заключение, в котором изложены основные выводы автора. Первая глава рассматривает концептуальные основы арктической политики Королевства Дания. Вторая глава является обзором состояния безопасности Королевства Дания в Арктическом регионе на современном этапе. Третья глава посвящена экономическому измерению Королевства Дания в Арктическом регионе.

The Arctic is part of a global village, connecting major economies by air and sea routes, gas pipelines, and power grids. Warming temperatures and rapidly increasing rates of glacial melting could unlock the Arctic's economic potential in the coming decades. The Arctic states at the beginning of the twenty-first century not only have to declare their interests in the Arctic, they also have to step up their work in the region. One such state is the Kingdom of Denmark. There is particular interest in the activities of the Kingdom in the Arctic region due to the fact that this state includes three autonomous parts - Denmark in Northern Europe, the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic, the Greenland Islands in North America, where each of them has its own interests in the Arctic, but the autonomies have common laws and a common national Arctic strategy. The Kingdom is already an active and important participant in strategically important international cooperation on the future of the Arctic and, as such, attaches great importance to creating transparency and mutual understanding in cooperation. The paper focuses on the military-political, economic situation in the Arctic territories of the Kingdom of Denmark in the twenty-first century. Such a focus has rarely been seen in Russian researchers, which confirms the relevance of this study. The structure of the study includes an introduction, three chapters divided into paragraphs and a conclusion, which outlines the author's main conclusions. The first chapter deals with the conceptual foundations of the Arctic policy of the Kingdom of Denmark. The second chapter is an overview of the state of security of the Kingdom of Denmark in the Arctic region at the present stage. The third chapter deals with the economic dimension of the Kingdom of Denmark in the Arctic region.
