| ru_RU |
dc.description.abstract | The final qualification work examines the use of the English language as a tool of "soft power" in British foreign policy. The relevance of the research topic is determined by the growing importance of "soft power" in one country's foreign and diplomatic policy. The purpose of the research is to explain the spread of English in the world and how the UK implements the policy of "soft power" to promote its own political values. The first chapter tells about the emergence and development of "soft power". The second chapter lists the main reasons for the popularity of the English language in world politics, and describes the process of its spread. The third chapter traces the activities of the British Council and examples of the use of "soft power" in UK's relations with the Commonwealth of Nations, the USA, China and Russia. Based on the detailed arguments, the author puts forward the thesis that, thanks to cultural and linguistic diplomacy, the UK is becoming one of the recognized world leaders in the use of language as a tool of "soft power". The British experience is very useful for Russia and China, because the Russian and Chinese languages get the opportunity to become new global languages in terms of scale. | en_GB |
