Modification of the speech signal in order to increase the rate of speech while maintaining its intelligibility

Abstract

В данной работе представлено исследование по модификации речевого сигнала с целью увеличения темпа речи при сохранении ее разборчивости. В качестве материала исследования для модификации сигнала использовались записи из звукового корпуса профессиональных дикторов CORPRES, созданный на кафедре фонетики и методики преподавания иностранных языков. Модификация и анализ сигнала осуществлялись в программе Wave Assistant и разработанного в рамках данного исследования ПО на Python. В результате проведенного исследования был обнаружен ряд модификаций, который позволяет увеличить темп речи, сохраняя при этом ее разборчивость, а также обнаружены те модификации, которые вредят разборчивости речи. Кроме того, было проведено сравнение фонетических процессов, происходящих в речи носителей русского языка при увеличении темпа с модификациями, которые были применены в данном исследовании.

The paper introduces the study on modification of the speech signal in order to increase the rate of speech while maintaining its intelligibility. Recordings from the sound corpus of professional speakers CORPRES developed at the Department of Phonetics, Saint Petersburg State University, were used as the research material. Signal modification and analysis were carried out by means of the Wave Assistant program as well as the software developed in the framework of this study. As a result of the experiments, a number of modifications that allow increasing the rate of speech, while maintaining its intelligibility, as well as those that decrease the intelligibility of speech, were found. In addition, a comparison was made of modifications that Russian speakers use to increase the rate of speech, with those modifications that were applied in this study.
