International sports events as factors in the development of urban space: Russian and foreign experience

Abstract

В рамках данной работы рассматривается влияние проведения международных спортивных событий (Олимпиад и Чемпионатов мира по футболу) на пространственное развитие городов. Анализируется влияние на различные сферы городского пространства, опыт стратегического планирования при проведении событий, в том числе, в условиях коронавируса. На основании этого выделяются ключевые особенности пространственного развития городов на разных этапах проведения международных спортивных событий, модели пространственного развития городов в этот период, а также формулируются рекомендации по проведению международных спортивных событий для городов.

This research examines the impact of international sports events (the Olympics and FIFA World Cups) on urban spatial development. It analyses the impact on various areas of urban space, the experience of strategic planning during the events, including in the context of the coronavirus. On this basis, the key features of urban spatial development at different stages of international sporting events, models of urban spatial development during this period are highlighted, and recommendations for holding international sporting events for cities are formulated.
