"Farewell, My Beautiful Homeland" by Ahmet Ümit viewed as a historical novel

Abstract

Целью выпускной квалификационной работы «Роман А.Умита «Прощай, моя прекрасная родина!» как исторический роман» является литературоведческий анализ произведения, используя описательный, биографический, сравнительно-исторический методы. Автор рассматривает исторический роман как отдельный литературный жанр, описывает становление и развитие этого жанра в мировой и турецкой литературах. Отдельная глава посвящена историческим событиям, легшим в основу сюжета анализируемого романа. Для анализа романа был использован оригинальный текст на турецком языке, все цитаты, которые были использованы для иллюстрации рассуждений, переведены на русский язык самостоятельно. Анализ романа позволил автору прийти к следующему выводу: в романе «Прощай, моя прекрасная родина!» соблюдены все жанрообразующие условия (историзм, временная отдаленность автора от событий, который он изображает в произведении, соотношение исторической достоверности с домыслом и вымыслом, изображение исторических событий, основываясь на достоверных исторических сведениях и документах, наличие в романе реально существовавших исторических личностей), которые позволяют причислить анализируемое произведение к жанру «исторического романа».

The aim of the bachelor’s thesis "Farewell, My Beautiful Homeland" by Ahmet Ümit viewed as a historical novel" is a literary analysis of the novel, using descriptive, biographical, comparative-historical methods. The author considers the historical novel as a separate literary genre and describes this genre's formation and development both in the world and Turkish literature. A separate chapter is devoted to the historical events that formed the basis of the plot of the analyzed novel. The original text in Turkish was used to analyze the novel, and all the quotations used to illustrate the reasoning were translated into Russian independently. The analysis of the novel allowed the author to come to the following conclusion: in the novel "Farewell, My Beautiful Homeland" all genre-forming conditions (historicism, the author's temporary distance from the events that he depicts in the novel, the ratio of historical authenticity with speculation and fiction, the depiction of historical events based on reliable historical information and documents, the presence of real historical figures in the novel) are met hence this novel can be classified as a historical novel.
